RELX International is no longer selling flavored e-cigarette products in its stores across the Philippines, according to reports from Manila.

Republic Act No. 11467 and Joint Memorandum Circular No. 003-2020 prohibit the manufacture, import, sale and distribution of steam products with flavorings other than tobacco or menthol in the country.

The bill, signed by President Rodrigo Duterte on January 22, 2020, raises excise taxes on alcohol, heated tobacco and e-cigarette products in order to raise funds for the government to provide quality and affordable healthcare.

RELX said the move reflects its commitment to supporting important e-cigarette reforms that will benefit tax collection while meeting the needs of adult smokers of legal age, preventing access to e-cigarettes by minors, and ensuring e-cigarettes in retail locations are responsible and meet standards across the country.
