Kazakhstan will raise consumption taxes on cigarettes and heated tobacco products next year, Kazinform quoted National Economy Minister Alibek Kuantyrov as saying.
Speaking at a session of the Majilis, the lower house of Kazakhstan's parliament, Kuantyrov announced that consumption tax on cigarettes should be no less than 28 euros ($29.94) by 2024.
It is also proposed to increase excise taxes on other tobacco products, such as heated tobacco, in order to harmonize excise taxes on tobacco products within EAEU. According to the minister, this will require a phased increase in tariffs.
