The sale and use of e-cigarette devices will be banned in Kazakhstan, AKIPress quoted parliament member Amanzhan Zhamalov as saying.

Lawmakers also decided to impose a 70 percent cigarette excise tax on "smoking sticks." It was not immediately clear from AKIPress's article whether "smoking sticks" refer to tobacco heating sticks or something else.

Earlier, the country's National Economy Minister Alibek Kuantilov announced a plan to raise the excise tax on cigarettes to nearly $30 by 2024.

It is also proposed to increase excise taxes on other tobacco products, such as heated tobacco, in order to harmonize excise taxes on tobacco products within EAEU. According to the minister, this will require a phased increase in tariffs.
